I enjoyed it

It has a very retro sound. I love repeating phrases are sung very monotone. I also thought it was funny when the second phrase kicked in and was sung throaty, it was almost lustful and very boorish and quite vulgar. I really did enjoy it. Great work and Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for voting, btw I saw your Vector-Vader, looks pretty sweet ;)

Your right

Very beautiful vocals. Great atmospheric piece. You really did a nice blend with the textures. I can picture a wounded man lying on the ground, waiting for Valkyrie to take him to Valhalla. The bells were a nice symbol to indicate the end. I love it. Great work and thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments.

The scene to which this piece was scored to was a man (main character) bruised and beaten after an alley fight, lying / sitting on pavement just reflecting.

Chilling

It's Tales from the Crypt meets The Outer Limits. Very good atmospheric piece. Really good job on making the whole thing flow, the pace was really nice also. Those castanet sound adds a little Spanish flavor and the reed sounds give it an on-the-open-sea 'kinda feel as well. Listening to it I'm picturing an old haunted Spanish ship rising from the depths of the ocean. Very nice. Great work and Thanks for sharing.

I will say this

It does need work. I'm picturing planes doing loops in the sky. I like the chord progression that happens at the 40 second mark. I guess the challenge is finding new and interesting ways to utilize overused elements. If you ever get to completing this to your satisfaction I'd love to hear the result. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

Sublime

Wow, I really like your arrangement. I love all the music from the Donkey Kong Country series. Espesscially part two, the music in that game, I thought, had a really contemporary rock n' roll feel. I can remember my 10 year old self sitting sitting 12 inches away from the screen. Thanks for that flashback.

I like the wavy/shell effect you created in the beginning, it was emerging from water. I also love the little bassoon/woodwind sounds very light and airy. It's beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the review.I really like DKC2 music too,but there are still a few original songs I love, such as the Jungle Hijinx song, which I have not REALLY listened to until recently, and I found out it is a complex and neat song, very enjoyable.

Also, that watery effect is actually the Fruity Love Filter.I use it quite a bit for intros, such as in "Beware the Pink Water".Usually for introducing drums,as these 2 songs demonstrate.I love it ^^

Again, thanks for the review and don't be hesitant to checkout the rest of my stuff.

Catchy

I think it's very rhythmic and inspiring. I only have a couple of problems with it. One, is that there's no lower voice and it sounds very airy. You should put a bass voice in it to add some weight and balance. I also think you could make the drum part a little more interesting, the quarter note hits on the open high-hat get kind of annoying. If you've got this track with vocals then I would to hear how that came out. Great work and thanks for sharing.

Let's see what you've got

Let me start off by saying this. A lot of people don't really appreciate or understand the potential a bass instrument or voice actually has. This is a perfect example of that potential. What you have here is something that really pulls on the psyche. This creates feelings of tension, anxiety, nausea; I could go on and on.

On another note, this sounds really great on it's own, so I'm anxious to hear how your going to incorporate other elements that complement this and not ruin it. Also, I assume that you will find a solution to transition the first part to the second part, as it stands now it's just two separate parts so I would like to hear how you make them work together.

Let me know how this comes along for you, I would really like to hear how this developes. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

MindOverMatt responds:

First, I totally agree with your first comment. Most bass tracks tend to go unheard. So it's very nice to run into someone who can actually interpret the ability that goes into playing such an instrument. I am incredibly flattered and grateful for all your comments. Also, rest assured that I've got someone working on this that I know won't let the song down at all! Eternalreich and I have collaborated on several projects before, and it's definitely never disappointing. As for the transition between song halves, I'm still trying to think of something. I'm leaning towards creepy, psychedelic sounds on a keyboard to kinda bridge the gap. But who knows? I'm always open for ideas! It would be my pleasure to keep you informed on the progress of this song. Thank you very much for listening and for the great review! Metal!

Intriguing

Really good so far. I found myself playing along on my keyboard, it has great potential for additional voices. Even by itself, I think it can stand alone. The different sections can really back up a verbal story or message. What you've written so far calls certain emotions and depending on what you say vocally will define them. It's very versatile, I can already feel anger, hope, empowerment, even tragic just from the instruments, the overall tone will eventually be defined by the lyric. I just hope you can write an equally intriguing story for lyrics to complement the music.

I know it's not final but it needs an intro, those two bars of eighth notes aren't cut'n it for me. The transitions are okay so far. I'm assuming there will be some expansion on some of the sections. I'm also interested to hear how your going to close this.

As good as it's sounds now, it's still far from finished, I think this is something you'll have to dedicate some serious time to. All you can do is work on it until you've reached satisfaction with the piece. If your going to share the development of this with us on this web site, then please let me know when you post another submission. I would really love to hear how this evolves into a finished composition. I wish you good luck and thanks for sharing.

Really Nice

I think this is perfect. It has good structure, chord progression, it's very rhythmic. Nothing sticks out, all the elements flows together perfectly. I love the first eight bars, the brass and bass created a really nice counter melody. The bass line is really nice and I love how it drops out in the middle and then pops back in. I admire that you faded out the ending without actually minimizing the volume, instead the different voices where pulled and created a nice fade out effect. This is definitely my new favorite song. Great work and thanks for sharing.

admiral420 responds:

Thanx man....i really appreciate that. You gave a really nice critique for this song. It means a lot to me that i actually did a kickass job at this after three days.

Once again, thanx.

Interesting.

I like it. I find it interesting because you introduce a very strait forward synthesized dancing part and then you presented a vary tranquil piano part and concluded by putting both parts together. The synthesized portion was very simple and well put together, it had a good sound and was very solid. I really liked the piano with the synth backing, together they created a mixed mood feeling due to the chords created from pitch choices. I feel that when everything came together it created a very stable structure. Also the closing added a nice touch. Personally I really enjoyed the results of your experiment. Great work and thanks for sharing.

Wow!

I love how you gave me such a detailed review!

I like knowing how people perceive music because everyone's opinion and feel of music is different so...

I really enjoyed reading your review! Glad you liked it!
